Welcome to the SES Garden

The purpose of our school garden is to enhance the academic achievement, promote a healthy lifestyle, teach environmental stewardship, and encourage the community and social development of all our children.  The garden creates opportunities for children to discover fresh food and make healthier choices.  It offers a dynamic, beautiful setting in which to integrate every discipline, including science, math, reading, environmental studies, art, nutrition, and health.  Such interdisciplinary approaches cultivate the talents and skills of all students while enriching the students’ capacities of observation and thinking. Children can experience deeper understanding of natural systems
and become better stewards of the Earth by designing, cultivating, and harvesting the school garden with their own hands. Additionally, the school garden nurtures community spirit, common purpose, and cultural appreciation by building bridges among students, school staff, families, and local businesses and organizations.
